Overview

The Cook II is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items in accordance with departmental standards and recipes. This position supports the kitchen’s operational goals by maintaining consistency, cleanliness, and quality across all culinary offerings and may assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Ensure proper portion control, food handling procedures, and presentation of all dishes.
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies prior to service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the assigned kitchen station and adhere to sanitation standards.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Communicate any equipment malfunctions or safety issues to management immediately.
  • Monitor inventory and notify the supervisor of any shortages or excesses.
  • Assist in the training of Cook I and kitchen stewards as needed.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Participate in daily kitchen line-ups and staff briefings as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume or fine dining kitchen.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to heat, steam, and cold from kitchen equipment and refrigeration units.
  • Frequent use of hands for grasping, cutting, and food preparation tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Commercial kitchen environment with exposure to sharp tools, hot surfaces, and various cleaning chemicals.
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere requiring attention to detail and cooperation.

Compensation Range

The compensation for this position is $27.45/Yr. – $27.45/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
