Job Purpose

    • To deliver Service Excellence and outstanding Customer Care to all customers and clients.
    • To supervise, train, and motivate the hospitality team in line with Sodexo’s operational goals and values.
    • To ensure that all service, hygiene, and operational standards are maintained to the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

    • Allocate daily work schedules and, as required, produce staff rotas in accordance with employee terms and conditions.
    • Ensure the safe and correct use, storage, and control of all machinery, equipment, and cleaning chemicals in compliance with company policy.
    • Support minor food preparation and assist with service as directed by the Catering Manager or Deputy.
    • Adhere to and oversee cleaning tasks as per the cleaning schedule, ensuring consistent hygiene standards.
    • Train, instruct, and manage the team to deliver high-quality hospitality services.
    • Enforce uniform and personal hygiene standards as outlined in the Company Induction Pack.
    • Maintain thorough knowledge of Sodexo’s Safety Management System (SMS).
    • Ensure all staff follow procedures for handling cash, keys, stock, and premises security. Report issues immediately.
    • Ensure cash registers are stocked with floats, display current pricing, and staff are trained in proper operation and cash handling.
    • Act as a first point of contact for customer queries and complaints, providing professional and timely responses.
    • Lead team huddles and monthly documented meetings with clear communication and feedback mechanisms.
    • Supervise service area preparation and clean-down before and after operating hours.
    • Monitor pricing displays and identify opportunities for sales growth and cost savings.
    • Identify training needs, deliver or coordinate training, and maintain accurate records. Report HR issues promptly.
    • Ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, Food Safety Act, COSHH, and company policies.
    • Maintain accurate staff time and attendance records.
    • Adhere to and enforce Sodexo’s Quality Management Procedures.
    • Commit to personal development and support the development of others in the team.
    • Report any damages or safety concerns through the Help Desk/Oshens system.
    • Carry out any reasonable tasks requested by the Catering Manager or Deputy.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • High standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and team presentation consistently maintained.
    • Effective communication within the team and with clients.
    • Compliance with all relevant health and safety and food safety regulations.
    • Positive staff engagement and support for company initiatives such as IIP.
    • Demonstration of Sodexo’s values as a brand ambassador.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Essential:
    • Strong numerical and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety procedures.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
  • Desirable:
    • IOSH and CIEH qualifications or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a hospitality or catering supervisory role.
